And what a journey this has been!
Total underdogs, we started off at 27 and steadily climbed the chart for 15 straight weeks (10 of those in the Top 10 with the final 3 in the Top 3) - that's more than 3 whole MONTHS!
⭐ Magic #3 ⭐
But it wasn't a straight line to the top and there were some heavy hitters to contend with along the way (including the lovely Terra Spencer's 'Real Love', our co-write with Dave Gunning and two songs that debuted in the top 4 of our final week alongside Charlie A'Court's tune, which had held the top spot for 3 weeks).
The odds certainly weren't in our favour (lol).
But where odds lack, heart often makes up.
And, I'll be honest, there were some weeks I wasn't sure if I had it in me to do my part. But it's been a tough year for a lot of us (not just my family) and I SO wanted to give us all something to cheer for, celebrate, and lift our collective spirits.
A little win goes a long way, right?
It was also important to me to live the spirit of this song with integrity and practice what I sing-preach, you know?
But not in a self-judgey way if I didn't do it perfectly (shame is cryptonite).
So I agreed with myself that I would just do whatever I could each day and each week to move the vision forward without burning out (a habit I'm breaking)... and put my faith in you and all the station's listeners to take it from there, if that was in the highest and best interest of all.
I guess it WAS! 🙂 Go team!
What made this victory even more special was that it happened on Evan's birthday week. My brother may not be here in human form anymore, but I am certain he is still with us and working his magic from the other side 💖
